グローバルコースの夏の行事、イングリッシュサマーキャンプも2日目をむかえました。1日目に引き続き、生徒主体の課題解決型アクティビティやグループワークを行いました。

It was the second day of our English summer camp! Yesterday the students enjoyed many English activities. The purpose of this camp is not simply to improve their English skills but to get the motivation to study English. Teachers hope that they will study and speak English vigorously after the camp.

今日はウォームアップとして、教員もグループに入って英語のゲームをしました。中1、高1、高2の3つの学年が混合のグループを作ります。昨日はグループ作りに時間がかかりましたが、今日は生徒同士が打ち解けて先輩が後輩を誘う姿も見られました。

楽器を紹介するプレゼン作成を行いました。浜松は“楽器の街”として有名です。浜松を英語で紹介する時に、楽器についても話すことができるといいですね。

When the students introduce Hamamatsu to foreigners or strangers, they can tell them that Hamamatsu is famous for the musical instruments. To tell them more, the students studied some instruments, shown how to play them.

I think the students thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Survival English’ activities. The students had the chance to speak in English without the use of a script.

サバイバルイングリッシュでは、特定の状況を想定して英会話を行います。体調が悪いとき、貴重品を失くしたとき、道案内を尋ねられたとき、ファーストフード店で注文するとき、様々な状況を設定して会話を行います。スクリプト（原稿）や教科書を使わずに、自分の英語力で会話を成立させます。

大学時代にアメリカのファーストフード店で実際にアルバイトをしていたネイティブ教員から本場の接客を受けます。

日本人英語教員も参加し役を演じます。

For the last two days, the thing I enjoyed the most was talking with individual students. When students try to talk one to one in English, they challenge themselves to go beyond their current levels.

閉会式では、ベストスピーカーの発表が行われました。全体の中で3名のベストスピーカーが選ばれました。英語力だけでなく、自然なコミュニケーション、積極性、主体性も考慮して選ばれました。

新モンゴル高校のマーヤさんも選ばれました。

その後、新モンゴル高校から来た交流生2名に中西高校校長より修了証が授与されました。2名は8日まで日本に滞在します。まだ校外活動もありますので最後まで浜松を満喫してください。

The students enjoyed the activities and tested their English speaking skills in role play situations. The summer camp was a great opportunity for students to meet new people, cooperate with one another and share their ideas. It is an excellent event for both teachers and students.

2日間のサマーキャンプで英語力が飛躍的に伸びたという生徒はいないと思います。この2日間はあくまで“きっかけ”に過ぎません。自分ができたこと、できなかったことをしっかり受け止めて、今後の学習の糧にしていきましょう。
